Yu-Chiang Frank Wang received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU) and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. In 2009, Dr. Wang joined the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation (CITI) at Academia Sinica, serving as Deputy Director from 2015 to 2017. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at NTU in 2017 and was promoted to Professor in 2019. Since August 2022, Dr. Wang has been serving as the Research Director for Deep Learning and Computer Vision at NVIDIA, where he leads NVIDIA Research Taiwan.
With a sustained focus on computer vision and deep learning, Dr. Wang’s recent research encompasses vision-language models (VLMs), embodied AI (VLA), and efficient machine learning. He has consistently contributed to the community as an organizing committee member and Area Chair for premier conferences including CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, and ACL. His work has received several Best Paper nominations at IEEE ICIP, ICME, AVSS, and MVA.
Dr. Wang is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the 2025 CIEE Outstanding Electrical Engineering Professor Award, the 2023 Outstanding Young Scholar Award from the Foundation for the Advancement of Outstanding Scholarship, and the 2022 Y. Z. Hsu Scientific Paper Award. He was also twice recognized as an Outstanding Young Researcher by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan. Beyond research, Dr. Wang is a dedicated educator, having received the NTU Excellence in Teaching Award for seven consecutive years (2020–2026).
